Sunflower

Sunflower & Bee 2.Asteraseae (sanflower tribe).Cluster of basal leaves. Leaves 4–17 in. long, lance-shaped to oblong, pinnately divided to central vein, with toothed leaflets. Leaves gray with long woolly hairs. Pair of small deeply divided leaves occurs just under flower head, otherwise stem is leafless. Flower head with 13 or more ray flowers 1/12–2 in. long. Grows in wetter areas than other balsamroots. Sometimes confused with smaller B. hookeri, hairy balsamroot, which also has silky hairs pressed to leaf surface.
